Plumping but *&@#!
I genuinely thought this was going to be a reg gloss that contained hyaluronic acid. No clue these had spicules in them. That being said, I still tested this and holy… It feels like THE SPICIEST lip plumper you could even imagine. It felt very ordinary as I applied it but then the tingly sensation started shortly after I finished both the top and bottom lips. At first it feels like biting into a habanero pepper, which I was like ok, this shouldn’t last too long. For the sake of testing, I left it on for 25 mins and it only calms down a little bit. When pressing my lips together, I could feel the micro pricks and my lips were visibly trembling. It does work, but I personally would never try it again after all that. Not worth the plump results. Yes my lips did look very plump, juicy and smooth, but I’d rather exfoliate them and apply a rich balm. Definitely reinforced that reading is fundamental! 3 stars because it does work as intended.

Applying this lip plumper.
I took the applicator and out the contents on a qtip so it was very thin. I applied the qtip to my lips applying a very thin layer. I could feel it but was not very strong. I used the wand applicator with one dip in the tube and applied a very thin layer on my lips. This time I could feel it and I an able to tolerate the sensation on my lips. Before I did any of this I tested it on the back of my hands to test it. I would never apply a thick coating because I know I would never be able to handle it. Also. After 1 hour I applied a lip mask to soothe my lips. Hope this helps others!

I’m not sure how I feel about spicules. I think this application is unique, I certainly haven’t seen it in a lip product anywhere else before. The idea of spicules in general is that it punctures the surface level of the dermis to help absorption of ingredients, in this case it’s a blend of HA, glycerin, oil and other humectants.On application I didn’t feel anything for a couple of minutes, it felt like a nicely textured lip gloss with a bit of oil leaning texture. It felt comfortable and didn’t impart a color. Within ten minutes the burning sensation kind of peaked, where it continued to hold for maybe upwards of like 45 minutes. Directions include trying not to get it into your mouth, which is basically impossible, so wearing it there can be varying levels of oh that’s on my tongue. It’s certainly within my discomfort tolerance levels, a bit uncomfortable but I wouldn’t say painful.As for the task it’s to perform, I think it’s pretty effective. It does plump fairly well, seems like even moreso if I’m fairly hydrated, and will maintain if I reapply every hour or so. I don’t think the sensation is quite what you would get from a capsaicin based formula, thus far my experience is that it’s a bit more aggressive with a more skincare focused bent. I’m kind of not entirely sure of how I feel about it, but I think of the plumpers I’ve tried it’s certainly one of the longer lasting and more effective formulas.I would say it’s a good option in particular if you need plumping for special occasions or can’t handle capsicum for the spice intolerance, I wouldn’t daily drive it. Also highly contingent on your discomfort tolerance levels. I’m glad to have it in my arsenal for the days I need something extra, but I think for normal days I’d stick to something with capsicum.
