I have owned quite a few clippers in the 18 years I’ve been married. My husband has always preferred to have his hair cut at home and when we had boys, they preferred home haircuts as well. The boys have really thick hair and our last clippers just weren’t working very well without pulling. We decided to look for a really good pair of clippers figuring they would pay for themselves by not having to go to the barber. Plus, working well would make haircuts a little less of a hassle. After a lot of research, we went with the Wahl Elite Pro Haircutting Kit.I have to say that this really is a quality set and that is evident from the starting from the case. The case is a thick, sturdy plastic with a really nice latch on it that works so well. The clipper is very heavyweight but easy to grip even through three haircuts in one day. It’s definitely much quieter than the models we have previously chosen, so that was a bonus. Also, I can still feel my hands after cutting the boys’ hair, so the vibration isn’t too intense either. The clipper has a very long cord, so I can have the boys stand in the bathtub to catch the hair while I cut their hair and there is still room to move around.One of my boys has really thick hair, one has what I’ve been told is beaded hair and it’s very silky feeling, and my husband has thinner, soft hair. This cuts all three hair types without any problems at all.I’ve had this for a while now and I’d say it’s quite durable as it is still running just like the day I received it. The blades are still sharp and the guide combs still clip securely. The guide combs are a heavy plastic and they lock securely to the clippers when you are using them. The clips are stainless steel, so you can be sure they will last. The guide combs have the sizes embossed into the plastic as well as on the stainless steel clips, so you know exactly what size you are using each time. With three different people wanting three different lengths, that is a life saver for me. No more guess work from ink rubbing off and leaving me without guard sizes.The scissors that come with the set are high quality and come in a case. They are a rounded tip, so that makes me feel a lot safer about using them to clip any stray hairs around my boys’ ears. The set also comes with a very nice apron so you can contain the mess mostly. We just got ours in today so far so good looks nice feel strong we have a company here with it will let you know and update how it works when you cut hair with you in a couple days.1. We oil the blades like they said2. We cut hair worked well without pulling hair, it cut through the hair really well so effortlessly, we have the cheaper model we had it for several years and the motors having some issues but this new deluxe model definitely is an improvement over the cheaper model.3. Wahl says this is 15% more powerful than any other handheld they currently own on the market today ( compared to Wahi other handhelds only ). We’ve owned there others so we will see shortly this week after we cut some hair feels stronger when we turn it on to their other unit which is approximately $20 versus this one which is about $49.Update 1 20 2016: This unit is definitely stronger am a Cutthrough thicker hair without pulling your hair as you cut it you can definitely cut hair faster due to the motor powerful it can handle a little bit more load on the cutting blades4. The accessory combs are definitely better made than the regular standard model ones, we have both and these are much thicker and better made stronger plastic.Update 1 20 2016: after using The accessories 100% much stronger and cutting through the hair they don’t bend or move around at all which makes it really nice. These accessories much better then the cheap model hundred percentUpdated 2016: The stronger motor definitely makes it easier for the clippers to cut through the hair so if they upgrade the motor again it would probably be even another improvement but we haven’t had any trouble cutting medium to semi thick hair so far. We believe the motor needs to be only so big I don’t know at what point or what size motor makes the perfect motor strong enough to cut all thicknesses of human hair. But 100% this is a big improvement over there cheap models.** Updated info for all, The Wahl V9000 senior cutters are definitely the way to go over the other Wahl ones. We have a barber that use the clippers every day he says he buys the seniors and has had all the models (5000 and v9000) and they last 3 to 4 years and he uses them every day. The Barbara’s been using these things for many many years and he says this is about what he gets with him, he says he pretty much cuts have 7 days a week. Good but heavy items

Item returned as not suitable for Australian 240v power despite several websites indicating the Wahl model I purchased was suitable for 110 – 240v. Amazon have agreed to replace the item as damaged when powered into 240v.
