Finally, one that works!
At age 11, my black lab, which always had fur described as “mink,” developed the flakes and itchy skin so many other reviewers have described. It would get so bad he would chew the skin raw. So I purchased quality groomer clippers to keep him shaved in a “puppy cut”–it’s much easier bathing a short haired dog and ensures good coverage and have you seen the groomer’s prices to clip your dog?–consulted with the vet, and researched the various types of skin afflictions. I have tried many different shampoos for their various ingredients–allergy, benzoyl peroxide, dermapet malacetic, oatmeal, tea tree oil, hot spot relief, chlorhexidine–as well as prescriptions from the vet. Some of these controlled it, others made it worse, but nothing got rid of it. The vet advised that it may just be allergies in old age and to bathe just once a week, but after 3-4 days he was smelly, flaky, and scratching non-stop. So after two years of “puppy cutting,” 2-3 baths a week, and several hundred dollars later, it was time to try yet something else. After reading the great reviews, I ordered two bottles of Vet Solutions. Wow! Improvement noticed upon the very first use! The itching was sharply reduced, red patches gone, and the hair is growing in fuller and getting back it’s luster. Also, this product lathered better than anything. Three weeks and 3 baths later–yes, I only need to bath once a week–today’s shave was probably the last, and I hope to return to monthly baths just in time for winter. I wish I had found this sooner, for the first bottle is only 1/2 gone, and I would have cured the itching for just $20! Maybe this product will work for your pet, but if it doesn’t keep trying and consulting with your vet. You owe it to your pet to stop the itching. (On a side note, the Vet Solutions ear cleaner is also amazing! No more of the chronic yeast infections common in retrievers. A weekly cleaning with a soaked cotton square is all it takes.)UPDATE 08/28/11: This is still my favorite shampoo. My lab just turned 14!!! He gets a bath about once a month. Turns out he also had a thyroid condition, which often manifests itself with poor skin and coat, as well as energy level and weight among other things. The vet suggested the test. Ask your vet about it if you’re still trying to find the cause of your pet’s skin problems. The test and re-test will cost you, but the daily supplement is not expensive, especially if you purchase via an on-line Rx.

Great shampoo!!
My aging german shepherd had been on alot of very expensive medicated “prescription” shampoos that could only be obtained at the vet’s office. They usually had a bad odor and did not “suds up” very well, not to mention the ridiculous prices I had to pay. The shampoos didn’t even seem to work very well for my german shepherd. Then I spoke with my vet and asked if there was any other shampoo that she thought might still soothe and heal my dog’s skin but didn’t cost a fortune. She recommended this shampoo and I’ve been using it ever since (probably for more than 2 years now). It has a wonderful smell, is very concentrated so you can use it very sparingly, it has done a GREAT job on my dog’s skin and is very affordable (especially if you purchase it through Amazon… it’s the cheapest price I’ve found.) We recently adopted a rescue dog that is mainly white in color and has sensitive skin (not to mention her body odor!) Since now using this shampoo on her for a couple months now, her skin is perfect and she smells great! It got rid of her body odor between baths. I would HIGHLY recommend this shampoo to anyone who is looking for a very good cleansing/healing shampoo at a fraction of the price!!

Anti-Fungal Shampoo smells great and works great!
SO WORTH THE MONEY!It REALLY works & it smells good! Leaving it on 15 minutes is the HARDEST part! So, I wet the affected areas well & I put a dot or 2 of the shampoo on my dog and add a little more water or shampoo until it lathers up well. Whole she relaxes I let it sit for the 15 minutes before taking her in to wash the rest of her body. It does help heal pretty quickly. Use it every 3-4 days until a noticeable change and then once a week. The vet said he couldn’t believe my dog was almost cleared up! (she had a pretty bad case)

American Bulldog. Works good but not a cure for everything!
I’ve used this in the past, works well and smells good. Lathers very well. I also now use Vet Solutions Aloe and Oatmeal Conditioner by accident….I bought it to try something a little different but ordered conditioner by accident instead of shampoo so now my dog gets a full day at the spa I guess. lolI never expected this to cure my dogs chewing of paws or scratching ears and face. You can’t rub your tummy when you got a bad stomach ache and expect it to cure it right?! Same thing with dogs. Most allergies are going to be either environmental or food so you need to figure it out and deal with it internally for the most part….which I am still trying to do ;(I hate giving his prednisone but is a must sometimes to give the poor dog and us relief (a.k.a. SLEEP).I have an AB (American Bulldog). If anyone has the solution to their skin issues, PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!!!I have had blood test done and he is apparently allergic to chicken, beef, wheat and some other common things so it makes it hard. I have him on a fish/grain free right now. Want to try a raw diet but may be too expensive and tough with his high positive food allergies.Like I said, this is a really good product but don’t think it is a miracle shampoo. I’d give it 4.5 stars because I don’t expect it to resolve everything. It does get him very clean, great smelling and makes his coat more bright white looking and soft.Arrived very fast in mail! This is a nice dog shampoo. I’m not sure it stop the itch after using this medicated shampoo, because right after my dog got shampoo from this product, he itched. But it kept his coat soft.
