OK – This is definitely a vibe (aka a good buy)
Here I am as a FEMALE writing this review for a product marketed towards male.Why might I be here, you ask?I am a FAN of the slicked-back ponytail. It’s my go-to hairstyle and i absolutely love it.However, i have a bunch of baby hairs and just general texture on my hair that makes it difficult to pull back. Something *always* wants to stick up lol.So here I am: Having tried everything from old school clear gels everyone used like 20+ years ago to achieve the spiked up NSYNC look, hairspray, pommades, blahblah.Most recently, I’ve been stocking up on a very similar styling creme despite my issue with it’s way to tacky and will leave little strings (yes, STRINGS) of product floating in the air after you rub it in your hands and pull your hands apart.Anyway – moving past that imagery no one asked for – this product:PROS:- No white residue!! So many products leave a white residue but this didn’t.- Tacky but not sticky. Your hair will still have movement but much much less.- Easy to wash out. I’ve historically used clarifying shampoos occasionally to get rid of build up but here, it felt like the water washed the product right out after a few secs.- A good amount of product is provided in the tubeCONS:- NothingNEUTRALS:- I’m really on the fence about this so i’m just gonna put this in neutral: The smell definitely gives more Axe vibes. Personally, even as a gal, the scent doesn’t really bother me (then again, I tend to go with more of a Le Labo Thé Noir scent profile than a Marc Jacobs Daisy profile).I think the initial strength of the scent is noticeable upon application but i feel like it faded away pretty quickly….. Like I don’t think someone else would pick up on the scent anymore than they might with a fragrant shampoo like Dove. So that person’s gotta be pretty close to get that whiff (and if they’re that close, hopefully you like that, ha)Otherwise, I’m all for BUYING this!

Overpriced but good product
I have been using the matte hair gel from Axe for many years. However, I have been unable to locate it for the past year, leading me to believe that Axe has discontinued the product. Currently, I am using the flexible paste from Axe, which appears to be their current promoted product. Unfortunately, I am not particularly fond of this product.In my search for a comparable product to the Axe matte gel, I have found this cream to be the closest alternative. It provides a medium hold, although it leaves my hair slightly stiffer than desired. However, this is an acceptable compromise. Additionally, this product does not have a strong fragrance, which is advantageous. Furthermore, it is not excessively sticky after setting.Overall, this is a satisfactory hair styling product, with the exception of its high cost. It is more than twice the price of the Axe gel I previously used. Nevertheless, if the cost of $17 per tube is acceptable, I can recommend this product.

This styling cream works well enough I guess. It is definitely a flexible hold that doesnât make the hair too stiff or greasy. It is good to hold a style in hair that has been trained in that style already. It isnât strong enough to keep my sonâs cowlick down, so very stubborn hair may be immune to it.It does smell very good, like cologne, but the smell is VERY STRONG. So strong in fact, that I can smell it on my son when we are outdoors and heâs standing a few feet away. It is pleasant, but if you have an aversion to strong scents, or have to refrain from wearing overpowering scents in the workplace or school, this may be too much.While itâs a decent cream, I feel that the value is a little much for what youâre getting, and I believe there are other options out there that provide very similar results.

Surprisingly strong hold compared to how it applies
Usually when I’ve used pastes in the past you spray it and have to work it quite a bit before you apply it. The heat usually activates the paste and it becomes thick but workable. This one was strange but very effective. I put this on after a shower, same routine put some in my hand worked it, but it didn’t really thicken much. When applied it allows you to work your hair around pretty naturally the entire time and then after about 3 minutes in takes form and provides a strong hold. I liked this a lot as I usually like pastes as they provide a low shine and the delay on the hold allowed my hair to rest and be placed much more naturally. This is a great paste product and I look forward to continuing to use it.

Good, flexible finish from Colorsmith’s styling creme paste.
The attached pictures are a before and after of using this product (Styling Creme Paste). It’s used on thick but very fine hair. I would say that it is true to its advertisement of being a flexible hold. Definitely not a firm hold. It keeps the sides from ‘poofing’ out and the top flexible but formed and free of fly-aways. Do have to be careful not to apply too much product, otherwise you are left with greasy looking hair (but this is user error and not a product error). Overall, like the product and does the job intended.My Star Rating Rubric:5 âï¸ – Perfect! Love it! Product exceeded my expectations.4 âï¸ – Great! Like it. Nothing wrong with it – met my expectations.3 âï¸ – Okay-ish. Not quite what I expected/hoped it to be. Some issues with product.2 âï¸ – Not ok. A product I will not re-order or recommend to others. Nice, lightweight styling creme!
This is a nice, lightweight styling crème that emulsifies very well in the hands. It has a lotion like texture but spreads very well so you can good coverage on your hair. The smell is ok â it smells like a citrusy sanitizer to me but it is not too noticeable after application. I like how it does not make my hair greasy or crunchy but does help to tame flyaway hairs and provide some hold and structure.

Overall provides light to medium hold for a paste. Not a real discernible scent and leaves hair soft.
