Primer’s made a splash, but does she have what it takes to be a Teen Titan?
Ashley wants nothing more than to be taken seriously as a superhero—she can’t help it that things don’t always go as planned! And when the Teen Titans roll into town chasing after their infamous nemesis, Deathstroke, Ashley just knows this is her chance to prove that Primer has what it takes to join the team.
The only thing is, her parents still expect her to go to school and finish her homework—typical Dad and Yuka (umm…Mom) stuff! And best friend Luke keeps acting so weird every time her Titan dream gets brought up…but Ashley has it all figured out. If only they would just see that she can do this! The new girl at her school, Violette, thinks Primer is the best—so why doesn’t everyone else get it, too?
Will Ashley learn what it means to be both a team player and a trustworthy friend…all while battling her newest foe?

I WANT MORE
Really positive, energetic, upbeat character with interesting and balanced superpowers. Primer is a superior Ben 10 with access to three superpowers at a given time, but her powers require a suit, which is a good counterbalance. The Teen Titans are represented wonderfully and accurately. DC could turn this into an animated movie, and it would perfectly fit with the 2005 Teen Titans show. Also, Gretel Lusky’s art is fascinating and charming. I want to see more of her art in Primer and other DC products. I was disappointed to see that Greta only draws the firsr chapter. Nicoletta draws the other two chapters, and her art sucks. Thankfully, the story is still engaging.

Gretel Lusky Fan Clickbait
The story to this is cute. Primer wants to join the Teen Titans but has to prove herself worthy, layered with a wound of coping with her “dead” mother. The part of this I didn’t like was that–I’m a huge Gretel Lusky fan– and she only illustrated the cover and first chapter! The rest of the book is done by another artist in a glaringly different style, that it was jarring matching up the characters from Gretel’s style. Had I know Gretel didn’t illustrate the whole book, I probably wouldn’t have bought it. What a marketing ploy cabbaging off her fan base. I was so disappointed.

Much worse than the first book
I pre-ordered this for my daughter because she enjoyed the first book so much. She started it last night and said it was nothing like the first book; it was confusing because it has a lot of references to a show she hasn’t seen, and the art style changes part way through and she couldn’t even tell what was happening. She got so frustrated she cried and stopped reading halfway through. She just turned 10 and is a savvy consumer of age-appropriate graphic novels.

Almost worth the wait, but art change ruins the fun
My daughter loved Primer, and itâs been a long wait until Clashing Colors. We were both enjoying the new adventure until the art change after the first 1/3. The action is hard to follow, the character models seem to change from panel to panel, and the rest of the book is simply not a stylistic match or even a complement to the original. Baffled that after such a long wait, the editors completely biffed the art. She still likes the story, but is very disappointed.

The first book was better
I felt like it repeated a lot of the same old stuff from the first in addition to the story. Also I hate that it changed art styles 1/3 way through the book. The original artist that did the first one and the first part of this book should illustrated the whole thing.

Great Graphic Novel
I really love the second installment to the series, getting to see more of Ashleyâs story was exciting. Although I donât like that the animation style quality starts going all over the place after chapter 2 which is basically nearly half of the book. I donât know if it was a decision made by those who illustrated it but it very much gave off it wasnât finished yet.

Tekenwerk en sfeer nog stuk beter dan het eerste verhaal (dat ook goed was).
