This is a serious machine !!!
For some reason, I previously thought it was a good idea to spend less money and get a battery operated product like the one in the 2nd picture. After going through two of those costing around $20 each in two years, I realized I was wasting my money. They are cheap, flimsy, with tiny motors that lock up with thick peanut butter.I finally decided to get a real machine, with a cord, and a serious motor. This Oster (1st picture), is just a smaller version of my big blender. I think I could put rocks in it and they would turn into dust. Itâs the difference between a 49 Volkswagen, and a hemi-powered ram truck.If you want a sturdy, reliable machine, that will last a long time, spend a little extra and get this Oster!

It worked great until it didnât. The good points are that it has a powerful motor and it is a good size for a quick smoothie and doesnât take up too much cabinet space. However, the connection between the motor and the cutter is a 4 pronged hard rubber clutch. If the motor stalls on something like a piece of ice the motor starts to give off ominous smells and on one occasion (the last) the motor sheared off the hard rubber prongs on the cutter assembly. Unlike other Oster models, the base cannot be disassembled to replace the blade assembly. Beware that the only replacement part that came close was a 3rd party cup and blade assembly for MyBlend but NOT the MyBlend plus. Unfortunately, Iâm not the only one who had this same problem. Others have posted pictures of the destitution if you donât believe me and they couldnât find a replacement either. Fortunately, I have a Vitamix for which you can get a 32 oz cup for smaller smoothies. Rather than another paper weight, itâs in the trash.

Update: We had this for 2.5 months before it stopped working. Started it up one morning and it made an awful sound and we could smell rubber burning. I contacted Oster directly and I will say their Customer Service is fantastic. Already sending me a replacement (a different model)._____I wish I could give this 4.5 stars, but because I love this product so much, I went with 5.We’ve had an older version of the MyBlend for probably 10 years and we loved it until it finally gave up the ghost (in the machine). I wanted to try this one, because I trust the brand. It’s just as good, but with a stronger motor, so it blends even faster/better. I like that you can now click the bottle into place and use the button on the front to blend as much as you want. The older version would start blending as soon as you secured the bottle.The bottle and blade don’t leak and are easy to clean. This is a very lightweight blender. It is also pretty child safe in my opinion.It’s exactly what we need, apart from one thing. This thing is LOUD. We have to warn each other when we are about to turn it on so that no-one has a mild heart attack. If you don’t mind that, it’s a really good product.

Motor horrible
I thought this was gonna be so great for frozen fruit with such a strong motor, however the very first time I used it the motor overheated and smelled horrific. It was hot to the touch and even the fresh spinach I had put in with my frozen fruit (with plenty of liquid) wasn’t even blended all the way. There were chunks of spinach and my smoothie was warm by the time it was done due to the motor overheating and causing the whole thing to become hot. It’s awful. I had the perfect little blender that was so similar that held on for close to 7 years just for this to last 1 day. Much too strong a motor for a small appliance I think. Anyway easy to return through Amazon without having to actually speak to anyone. Disappointed I got charged shipping when it was an issue with the product but I know with Amazon’s great costumer service I could have spoken to someone and likely have it waived. Yay for Amazon easy returns. I don’t recommend this product thought. Just spend the money and get the ninja magic nutri bullet. It’s basically the same price

This is a replacement blender for a previous personal blender. Both are loud. Both get the job done. Husband uses it virtually every day. For the previous blender, the blades/seal gasket finally wore out and I ordered a replacement part. Then about 6 months after, the motor went. From my experience so far with this blender, I’m expecting about the same path… But why I gave this model 3 stars is that within the first month of using it, my husband used his thumb to flip open the “drinking top” that comes with it – the plastic just broke off. So now that piece is completely useless (won’t stay closed in any way). It really does blend well though.
