The cocoa blend is still a bit artificial but I’ve come up with my own blend and I also add a fair amount of pink salt to balance the sweetness and taste of the cocoa. I also use the regular coffee flavor. I do not use the entire pack per cup. What I normally do is add 1 heaping tablespoon of each flavor (cocoa and coffee) to about 12 oz of water and coconut milk and blend with pink salt.I bought the cocoa blend first. It has a bit of an artificial taste for my liking but I ordered the regular as well which is really good. Each packet has about 6 tablespoons so I mixed 3+3 together. Still tastes a bit artificial but I like the idea of having this coffee after a longer fast.

Great for Ketogenic backpackers; beware of “natural flavor” sources though.
First off, this review is based on my initial impressions. I bought these for an upcoming backpacking trip and tried it for the first time this morning. I mixed a packet into a serving of black coffee; similar to another reviewer’s suggestion. It’s a deliciously sweet, creamy treat; tastes like dessert! In fact some people, especially who are on the Ketogenic diet and/or have already cut sweets from their diet, will find this TOO sweet, overpowering the cocoa flavor.. As I sit here sipping my mocha, the sweetness stands out more and more. That’s part of the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I’m curious how the flavor of the Fat Fuel Coffee compares to this; I almost bought that one instead but decided to go with the Cocoa since it’s supposed to have less caffeine.The other reason for subtracting a star is that for those of us who peruse ingredient lists, it bothers me that the source of sweetness isn’t fully disclosed. All it says, in addition to the fat sources, cocoa powder, and salt, is “natural flavors”. Sure, it also says “no added sugars”, but I’ve seen other companies use that phrase to mean “no sugars, just natural sweeteners” (like agave, honey, maple syrup, monk fruit extract, stevia, etc). Be aware that certain sweeteners can trigger intense sugar cravings, or aggravate IBS in certain people. Without knowing what “natural flavor” is used, I recommend exercising caution when trying this product. I will be monitoring my cravings, intestinal comfort, ketones, and glucose over the next few days to see if there seem to be any ill effects. I may post an update at a later time.Like other reviewers have mentioned, this is an expensive product. However, if you’re a Starbucks addict, you may find this to be a cost-effective replacement. Since I needed something dry and packaged in single-servings to cut back on pack weight and mess, the Fat Fuel Cocoa is a great option and the cost for convenience is very reasonable, at least for a 5-day trip. I plan to keep experimenting and will try a 1/2 packet mixed with powdered coffee to see if it tones down the sweetness while still providing some dietary fat.In summary, I would recommend this product because of taste and travel/backpacking convenience, but would caution other buyers to be aware of the sweetness level and non-disclosed possible ingredients.

This is by far the best tasting and easiest product for daily use. I LOVE IT! They recently changed something in their ingredients and it tastes even better. Hard to believe it’s only 1.5 grams of sugar. I use it in the morning and if I’m craving something sweet later in the day, drink one for a snack after work!! Love this product!!
