    Love this product!
So, I’ve dealt with cold sores my entire life. To top that off, I have insanely sensitive skin, chapsticks, lipsticks, lip balms (yes including plain aquaphor) all make my system react and I end up with cold sores. Basically if it sits on the lips, I get a sore- on top of the usual colds, allergies, weather changes and stress. THIS product however, does not! Not only does it NOT make my body freak out, I’ve genuinely noticed a quicker healing time, smaller sores, less scaring and “redness” throughout the recovery time! I’m pretty sure this will now be my forever go-to chapstick both with and without cold sores!

    Good ingredients
Docosanol is one of the newer over-the-counter ingredients proven to shorten the duration of herpes cold sores, which are the ones that pop up on your outer lips and start with a tingling sensation to warn you. (The ones inside your mouth have a different cause, and are called canker sores.)Docosanol is the same ingredient in Abreva. Lysine is also known to be effective. This lip balm is the only one I’ve found found with both ingredients. I would have preferred an unscented lip balm but at least this one is pleasant. If you suffer with these blisters, you should also ask your doctor for a prescription for Valacyclovir pills, to be taken at the first tingle of a new sore. Fairly inexpensive since it’s available as a generic. You can try downloading the GoodRx app to find a better price and bring that to your pharmacy. Also, otc lysine supplement pills from any health food store or Amazon, at least 1000 mg per day, and an anti-inflamatory like Advil. Hit it with all of these and you may be able to stop a sore before it progresses to open blisters. It can drastically shorten recovery time and lessen the size of the sore. Lysine is cheap enough that you can take it every day to prevent future sores, or at least drastically lessen the severity. Hope this helps!

    Works very well
Very good, I always keep some in my house/ bags. I combine the chapstick with Licorice drops (sold by NOW foods here on Amazon) I found Licorice is amazing (make sure it actually is made with Licorice, lots of companies use Anise instead). My lips have not felt that good for years. Or try rubbing Juanola pastilles on your lips, immediate relief against the itch!

    Reduce cold sore duration
I still get cold sores whilst using this, but they are smaller and do not last very long. The balm itself isn’t as moisturizing as other brands. The scent in delightful.

    This Docoshield formula works
I tried this brand many years ago but it did not appear to help me. However it did not contain lysine but this newer formula does. My doctor had written me a prescription for Valacyclovir a year ago and I stocked up on it for future use. I just don’t like having to ingest them daily to stop the outbreaks so I gave this new Docoshield formula a try again and it’s working. The key seems to be using it daily and rubbing it into the skin up to about a 1/4″ around the perimeter of my lips. I recommend this product and will be buying it again when needed.

    Very moisturizing.
This one is a little less berry-like than the blue one. I was hoping it was spearmint though because it’s green.Only chapstick I can find with docosanol in it.I wish they made a minty or juniper one with sunscreen.Great product tho!

    Works!
I use as I would a normal chapstick. At the first sign of a cold sore I apply generously and regularly. It easily cuts the outbreak in half or more, sometimes altogether. The sticks last long, like regular chapstick, making it relatively economical.

Truly do believe it’s helping prevent cold sores from reoccurring. So incredibly soft. Love that feeling on my lips. Locks moisture in for sure.

This stuff is a great defense against wind, sun and cold. I keep one in my purse, coat pocket, work bag, vehicle you name it. Helps prevent cold sores and protects my lips and skin from the elements. I love it. Downside is, it doubled in price at one point (and then went back down) and now is no longer available?? I’d love to find out more about the seller and hope that us cold sore sufferers can rely on this company a little more

EDIT: thank you for lowering the price back to what it was! ($28) appreciate it! now i can give 5 stars again :)the price jump is ridiculous!! i bought in Sept 2023 for $27 and now it’s $55???? robbery.Yes, this stuff is amazing but owners are just selfish now. If you kept it the same price (still pricey) i’d give 5 stars but i just can’t.
