Non-irritating, and it works.
I have oily, limp, fine hair with little natural shine. My skin is extremely sensitive to irritants, mostly man-made chemicals. I actually found this after I has a severe negative reaction to another product (think, steroids to get rid of the rash), and I’ve had no problem using it for the past 4 months. I spray this on the ends after a shower, then run my hands through my hair to distribute it. Usually, this and a volumizing root spray are all I need, no heat required. Disclaimer: my hair is already really straight. My hair has way less flyaways, a little more shine and it becomes very soft looking and feeling. I am not using heat on my hair regularly because I am trying to grow it out, but when I do this works fine. Please note that, while this product does not have a lot of the harsh irritants I have to avoid, it is made of natural ingredients, so beware of food allergies. Always read your ingredients.

A good heat protectant product that uses natural ingredients.
Ingredients:I’ve been looking for a new heat protectant product that contained natural ingredients. Most heat protecting products contain cancer causing chemicals (carcinogens), ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate or parfum (fragrances) where the ingredients are not made available to the consumer, which means the product could contain harmful chemicals. Desert Essence doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals, and they certify that their frangrances are safe to the consumer. I have included pictures of the ingredients.Performance: I used this product to straighten my hair today, and was satisfied with the end result. For reference I have thick, course, naturally wavy hair, and live in Texas (so hot & humid). While the scent is a bit overwhelming when initially sprayed on my hair, after straightening, I felt the strong coconut aroma dissipated. While I don’t think the product made my hair feel softer, I do think it was less frizzy, and it gave my hair a nice shine. Long term wise I’m not sure how well this product would protect my hair from heat styling products, while I didn’t notice any new breakage after straightening, my ends felt dry. Realistically I will be using this product in combination with a hair serum in the future, so hopefully the combination will help protect my hair. The pictures included are the originals, and have not been enhanced.Conclusion:Overall I would highly recommend this product. While i have used heat protectants that leave the hair softer, and offer better protection, I feel the potential healthy risks associated with the chemicals used is not worth the end result. This product provides good results, using natural, safe, ingredients.

the only thing this product has going for it, is that Desert Essence is a good company, it is organic and cruelty free.however, as a hair product it sucks. I am better off having nothing in my hair than this spray. I tried it 3 times: on wet, freshly washed hair with blow dryer, on air-dried hair with straightening iron, and on dry unwashed hair with straightening iron. in ALL of these cases, the product made my hair STICKY, causing additional tangles, it didn’t help with frizz and left my hair feeling like straw. of …and it has a terrible smell too. I am truly disappointed with the product, and disappointed with the seller for not allowing me to return it. boo

Bin sehr zufrieden damit.Der Duft ist angenehm und riecht dezent nach Kokosnuss, wobei davon nichts mehr zu riechen ist, sobald die Haare getrocknet wurden. Außerdem sind sie auch geschmeidiger und deutlich weniger frizzig. Ein Wundermittel gegen strohige Haare ist es leider nicht, das sollte man nicht erwarten.Bezüglich des Kommentares über Polyquaternium: Polyquaternium ist ein synthetischer Stoff und daher vergleichbar mit Silikon. In der Kosmetik wird es verwendet, um einen (Schutz-)Film über Haare oder die Haut zu legen (daher die Antifrizzwirkung und Schutz vor Hitze). Speziell Polyquaternium-11 ist (bisher) nicht bekannt, schädlich zu sein. Rückstände von Acrylamid wurden hauptsächlich in Polyquaternium-7 nachgewiesen, was nicht in dem Produkt enthalten ist. Natürlich ist es dennoch ein synthetischer Stoff und kann daher auf längerem Zeitraum ähnlich schlecht für die Haare sein, wie es Silikon ist.Aber wen das nicht stört, sollte dieses Spray zumindest einmal ausprobiert haben. Einen direkten Vorher-Nachher-Effekt sieht und fühlt man schon bei der ersten Anwendung und ich bin sehr glücklich mit dem Kauf.

Excellent product! It’s so hard to find a decent vegan heat protecting spray, it’s very gentle on my hair and leaves it feeling happy and healthy after blow drying and straightening.
