It gets Hot enough. Nice curl. Many of the reviewers don’t care for the claw clips. I liked them. They worked well for me. No indenting. I do wish they had some kind of holder/case. I just used an old cosmetic bag to store them in. I have shoulder length, a decent amount of hair. But stick straight baby fine and hard to curl hair.. I use a bit of hairspray after their up in the rollers. Then let cool completely.If you used hot roller back in the day, and were thinking maybe I should try them again? I would say yes. It will not be the same type of curl you get with an Iron though. It is faster and great for quick everyday look.

Plastic clips leave crimps
I used hot rollers for years in my teens and 20s and am pretty experienced using all types of hair styling tools.I’ve tried securing these rollers several different ways and no matter what I always get a crimp. I have fine hair and the lines are right on the top and front of my head so they’re really visible and the only way to get rid of them is to use a curling iron and that usually works. But it’s an extra step to an already long process.I tried calling Conair to ask if they could send some metal pins and the customer service person said to buy them online, which is disappointing since the rollers are already $40 and the clips online are about $10.In the short term I’ve gone back to velcro rollers. I wish I would’ve done more research.

TOO HOT
So I plugged in these beauties and I waited, and waited, and waited. After 45 minutes the red light was still on; it never turned to white. I unplugged them and let them cool down. After the cool down, I heated them up again for 10 minutes and tried to put them in my hair, using the set of metal clips that I was sure would work better than the plastic ones I’ve read about. The metal clips worked fine on the top and back of my head, but didn’t work on the sides. So I used the purple plastic clips that came with them on the sides with my hair sort of hang gliding in clips that don’t stay where they are put. However, even after a complete cool down and a 10 minutes re-heat, they were…hmm, let me think, oh…TOO HOT!! The edges which you are supposed to hold, were pretty hot after only ten minutes of heat. When I took them out I didn’t dare put a comb in my hair but just fluffed and there is some minimal curl but mostly a bad beachy mess. I think if I leave them on for 15 minutes and then try to do my hair, they could work. I think it depends on how much of a burn I can take from the edges, which are not supposed to be hot. I’ll give them another try; maybe I’ll get better at it and update this review. But, ultimately they will probably be going back.

Mes cheveux sont ultra long et droit,c’est difficile pour moi de les friser pour que ça tienne bien et qu’ils ait du corps. Je me fais dégradé les cheveux cette semaine mais j’avais quand même envie d’essayer avant le grand jour. J’ai tout adoré,ça chauffe bien et rapidement,ça prend 15min-25min(dépend de l’épaisseur de ton cheveux) et c’est prêt. J’ai adoré le résultat,puisque j’ai les cheveux longs et épais les gros rouleaux c’est #1,pas lourd du tout. La sensation de la chaleur une fois dans mes cheveux me fait penser à quand je mettais les rouleaux de ma grand mère et que je mettais ma tête dans le gros séchoir,je trouve ça réconfortant. Excellent produit.

It works great on my fringe and bangs portion of my hair the curl holds throughout the day. However, the longer portions of my hair will not hold the curls even when left in for hours. It may just be a user problem as I have fairly long hair(around 2 feet). Some notes when I first plugged the rollers in there was a fairly strong plasticky smell it went away after a few uses though and the clips are kind of flimsy.
