    Super hydrating serum, clean recipe
I love the plumping effect that hyaluronic acid gives, so when I saw this Cactus Mucin Hyaluronic Serum – Intense Hydration by Meditherapy being offered, I ordered it up quick. In case you were wondering, cactus mucin is the vegan alternative to snail mucin. Like snail mucin, cactus mucin can hydrate, calm, and promote Skin Barrier function very well. However, snail mucin has two things that Cactus mucin does not – glycolic acid and copper peptides. Glycolic acid helps with cell turnover because of its exfoliating properties and copper peptides are thought to be able to stimulate collagen production. All in all, not a bad vegan option, but cactus mucin does not do everything snail mucin can do. Never fear though, with the addition of niacinamide, hydrolyzed extensin and collagen extract, they’ve got those bases covered. The main story about this serum is hyaluronic acid, and there are 10 different types in this formulation!! The various forms of HA are in different molecular sizes so that they are able to penetrate to different layers of the skin for maximum hydration. In using the serum I found it to be watery, colorless and fragrance free. I just smooth it over my face and neck, and it absorbs almost immediately, leaving no residue at all on the skin. Immediately after using it the redness in my complexion fades, and all the cells holding more water now plump out a bit camouflaging my fine lines and wrinkles. My skin takes on a dewy glow and always looks healthier after using the serum.Besides how nice it makes the skin feel and look, I love this serum for its lack of any potentially harmful ingredients. It contains no parabens, phthalates, PEGs, silicones, fragrance or harsh preservatives. Currently this Serum is selling for $19.99 for the 1 oz bottle, and I think that is an excellent price for the superior hydration it can provide.Highly recommendedMade in Korea

    Good Korean serum for hydration
For reference, I have combination skin which tends to be drier in winter, I’m in my 40s, and have been using Korean skincare for over 2 years. Testing this product in February when it’s still pretty cold here. This is a good Korean company that I know and respect, and have tried a bunch of products from them already. The product checks all the boxes you expect from a reliable Korean manufacturer. It comes in a nice box though not sealed, and the serum dropper works well. All the information you need is provided in both Korean and English, there’s an expiration date that gives me enough time to finish the product. The ingredients seem pretty good as well, and I’m attaching a photo of the rating from Yuka app that tends to analyze ingredients based on their harm cost to humans and or the environment. This one rates pretty highly. The product is very liquidy, and slightly pale yellow in color. It didn’t have any strong fragrance that I could detect, and there is no artificial fragrance added in the ingredients as well. I didn’t notice any viscosity, and I know the photo shows that it can be a slimy product similar to snail mucin, but I didn’t notice anything like that. It really is pretty much like water, spreads super easily on the face, absorbs very fast. Doesn’t leave me super moist and hydrated, but I also didn’t feel dry after it. I use a bunch of other products in my skincare routine to add extra moisture, so I’m not relying on this product alone.Overall, a good reliable company, a good quality product that is worth trying. It’ll work for all skin types, including sensitive one that cannot handle artificial scents and fragrances.

Contains Essential Oils But Very Hydrating
This is very soothing and softening, it really does leave my skin feeling hydrated. There are soooo many wonderful ingredients in here, the primary one being, of course, the Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract (prickly pear cactus extract). This is solid for those who might need a boost of hydration, but if you have sensitive or easily sensitized skin, be aware that this formula, sadly, includes two kinds of essential oils – lavender and Chamaecyparis Obtusa Oil. They aren’t all the way down in the formula ingredient list either, but before a lot of really really good ingredients (such as the ceramides, hyaluronic acid, collagen, etc.) which is so unfortunate, since that means there’s a higher percentage of the essential oils than the good stuff I really want. With that being said, still a solid, soothing serum! Just be aware if you have sensitive skin or are avoiding potentially sensitizing ingredients.

  4. Customer Review

    Vegan Mucin
I’ve heard how good snail mucin can be, but I have been reluctant to try it because I’d prefer not to harass snails. This Cactus Mucin is a vegan alternative, more or less, to snail mucin. The product comes in a dropper bottle. I’d prefer if it had a bit more protective sealing than mine did. The outer box had a sticker seal but the bottle had none. There isn’t any offensive or strong odor from it. I’m sensitive to scents, and this one did not cause any adverse reactions. The consistency is thin and slippery. It goes on smoothly and easily. It absorbed into the skin well.It does feel hydrating, and it does seem to soothe my skin. After using I didn’t develop any skin reactions. Overall, it is a nice serum. I’m sure that in the long term my skin will benefit from it very well. For the little amount that is used per application, it should last awhile, which makes it a decent value.

Hydrating, smells like getting a real facial
This serum goes on smoothly and does not irritate my skin. I like the way it smells – has a slight medicinal scent that makes me feel like I have just gotten a professional spa facial. It goes on cleanly, without leaving any greasy or sticky residue. It is hydrating and leaves my skin feeling soft.

Boost the moisture level of my skin
This is gentle vegan face serum. Since this serum is cactus based it does not have the animal source mucin in it. I find it is really gentle and very moisture boosting. Applied to my clean face routinely it helps boost the moisture. Used with my moisturizer I get beautiful results. My skin has a soft moist texture.
