How Did We Get Our Start?
Back in the mid-1990s, our founder Bill Whyte worked as a carpenter. He worked hard, and so did his hands. They would often split and crack in the frigid New England winters. One night, seeking a soothing solution, he mixed up some beeswax and olive oil to create a simple herbal balm. It helped his hands so much, he decided to share it with everyone he knew – and the rest, as they say, is Badger history.

Not too white
This is the only zinc-based sunscreen that isn’t too white on me. It’s wetter than most, so it spreads more easily. It’s still a bit white but it looks OK.

A little greasy feeling at first. But adds great hydration and no white cast. I use it on my face as well and have no reaction. My go to. Great for sensitive skin

Not bad for tan skin, not great
I have a medium, tan complexion and on the look for a safe sunscreen for daily wear. This sunscreen is a healthy alternative compared to a lot of big brand sunscreen that we usually see in our local drugstores. I was convinced this wouldn’t leave a white cast because of other reviews but it definitely takes some of my pigment away and makes me look sick. I found the best way to counteract that is to apply the sunscreen at the same time as moisturizer so they can mix together, it helps the sunscreen blend out so much more nicely and evenly and doesn’t take away from my natural complexion that way. I only do this for my face, now doing that for the whole body in the summer might not be ideal.

Very disappointed with the outcome
So so so disappointed with this product!. I am a long time badger customer for probably 10 years but this product was very disappointing. I used it on my kids while in Mexico, yes we were in the water but over 3hrs I reapplied 3 times and they got so burnt. Like blistering burnt. Weâve been living down here for 4 months so it wasnât like we havenât seen the sun all winter. Did I get a bunk product? Not sure but I have always trusted this brand and now Iâm very much rethinking its effectiveness. Ugh! Honestly not sure Iâd ever buy or use this product again especially on my kids. Pretty sad as we living in the PNW and I love local products. Badger do you have any comments??

It dries the skin
Iâd been looking for product with zinc oxide and was looking forward to trying this. For a product as greasy as this one, it sure dries out the skin. It not only feels dry it also makes the skin visibly dry. I blend it with a more moisturizing product but itâs still drying. I have about 1/2 a bottle left and will find a way to finish so to not waste. It does seem to protect from the sun but I donât think Iâll get this again.
