Convert from paste clay & waxes
I’m done with clays and pastes from a can. Plus they aren’t near as easy to wash off your hands once you rub them together to warm and soften it before applying. Clay Spray washes off in seconds. This is ultra matte no-shine, holds hair just as good and covers all of your hair evenly. Thinning on top, this is a great product to control my hair (what’s left) from going all directions. If I’m stepping out for the evening I’ll put 1 or 2 new sprays to slightly dampen and re-control my hair and it’s good to go. Just hope they don’t stop making this or I’ll empty out their inventory and use it all!

Great for a subtle look
The spray leaves your hair with a very mild stiff texture that will quickly rub out and still leave your hair in the desired style. It works great, sets quickly, easy to wash out, and smells great.

Great product, but smells bad
This is the best product I have found for my hair, it holds pretty good after having in my hair for an hour or so, but the smell is terrible.

Use it in the barber shop
I am a barber, I bought this to use on clients in the barbershop. It smells great, and really holds the hair in place. I like to use this on older gentlemen who donât like using gel.

Great product!
Love it! I combine this with American crew defining paste and sea salt spray. Hair looks great with this product.

not great for fine hair
Meh, didn’t work for me. I have fine hair and it was hard to put your fingers through afterwards.

Just kind of weird
I’m sure there are people out there who love this product, but it wasn’t for me. Spraying a wax into your hair makes it kind of clump together which is not the look I’m going for.Washes out well.

My son uses it every day. Easy to apply with good hold.

I’ve been sticking with variations of the same style for about 5 years now, and during that time I’ve used every product available, from waxes to pomades, clays to powders, some work brilliantly, some have a terrible smell or texture, and some just don’t seem to last. This was a game-changer for me. “How can a spray have the texture and hold of a clay?” I asked as I added it to my basket.I tried it out when it arrived and I was absolutely amazed! I spray it directly onto my towel-dry short hair (about 3 sprays across my whole head) and then 1-2 sprays into my hand. I then rub my hands together and use them to rub the spray into my hair and style it. You can feel the product providing resistance as you style, the texture changes as if the clay has been magically added somehow. It doesn’t feel sticky, but you feel the resistance as you style and you know its a great product.Once dry, I check the style and add a further spray to tame any stray hairs that I’d missed or hadn’t found, and follow up with a fixing hairspray spray if needed. It gives a firm, but re-styleable hold that doesn’t go crispy, but stays in place. It adds volume and texture, whilst staying matte finish and lightweight. It smells great, and you don’t get the dreaded blob of clay/wax that you forgot to blend in at the back of your head (we’ve all been there, when a friend or co-worker tells you about it, and you can’t see it in the mirror because of the location). For day 2 hair, 2-3 sprays will give you just enough moisture and product to restyle for the day, but honestly if you rub through with dry hands instead and restyle it, it will give you a great ‘tousled’ look straight from bed, without needing too much of any other products.Overall, I absolutely recommend this product as a great alternative to anyone who is using wax, pomade or clay at the moment, and wants to keep the same style but try something a little less heavy, sticky and prone to clumping.I only wish that it came in a travel size (150ml is too large for most flying holidays), as I’ll have to switch this out or decant for my next holiday.

This is a fantastic product if you are looking for something lightweight which has a strong hold and leaves a matte finish.I have dense but very fine hair which means heavyweight and high-shine products are not suited to my hair type. I have been looking for the perfect product for my hair for some time, having tried many options by different manufacturers. I am a big fan of American Crew and this product is the answer I have been looking for. This spray is best-suited as a base product. The instructions recommend that the product is sprayed into dry hair. I have had MUCH better results spraying this into wet hair and then blow-drying into the required style. I then finish the product with either American Crew Boost Powder (for a truly matte finish/âno visible producâ look) or American Crew Fiber (for a dull shine/texturised look). The latter seems to work better on Day 2 hair which hasnât been washed the same day. This product is certainly worth the money if you have medium to longer length hair and are willing to spend a little longer blow-drying your style into place. If youâre looking for something for shorter hair which creates good results without the need to blow dry, I would not recommend this product. Skip straight to a finishing product by American Crew or, alternatively, Templeton Tonics.

Iâve used this product on and off since January. Here are my thoughts. For context, I have thick, incredibly straight, flat hair that has been styled in mostly a middle part or a messy fringe.Pros:- As other reviews have mentioned, this product is really good at sucking up oil, making it a great product to use if itâs been a day or two since washing your hair- Gave lots of volume, and the ability to style- Not a super strong smellCons:- Itâs a bit hard to control the application of this product, and you can get some parts with way too much that are just stiff and crunchy- Since this is an ultimately a spray powder, if you touch your hair a lot (which i unfortunately do a lot) then you will find it under your fingernails and make them look nasty- You also need to REALLY clean your hair after using this product. I use a silicone scrubber to help it out when it feels especially oversaturated with product.Overall, not a terrible product. I just donât think it was for me!
