    Help is on the Way
Who hasn’t suffered pain at some point? Maybe it’s chronic pain. This book offers great ALTERNATIVE ways to deal with the pain, instead of pills or addictive approaches. The author has done a great job on the subject. She covers mind-body connections, the psychology of pain, myths (like more medication is always better)… She is strong on all sorts of techniques to relieve different kinds of pain. This is wide range from acupunture and rolfing to biofeedback and CBT to light therapy, Tai Chi and natural herbs… techniques depend on the kind of pain, injury or disease you have. But more than that, she covers basics on better diet (and less inflammation which can be a source of pain and disease), hydration, better sleep and more. The author has created a wide-ranging and excellent book on alternative methods. I recommend!

Good introductory overview of alternative pain options
Overall, I think this book offers a good introduction to a wide variety of alternatives to drug-based pain relief. It does seem like some sections might have been written by AI and not effectively edited. For example, about 1/2 ways to through the book, there is a subheading indicating that an infographic will be used to illustrate how something works on the body. The text reads, “This infographic could include…” suggesting that the author asked an AI tool to help create an infographic and the tool generated text instead. Rather than turn that into an image or rewrite, the author left this curious passage for readers to decipher. All this said, I do still think the text has some valuable information to offer (especially to those unfamiliar with non-western healing techniques).

    A Helpful Overview
This book provides a helpful overview of holistic approaches to pain relief and pain management. Having recently dealt with a leg injury and my doctor wanted me to use pain meds to get through the hump, I didn’t want to do that. One of the approaches shared in this book is cupping which I’d never done before and decided to try after reading about it. So for that, this book was helpful.

    Great book for Pain Relief!
I’m so glad I read this book because I learned so much about to handle and deal with chronic pain! The author thinks outside of the box and teaches alternative ways to manage pain without taking medications. It covers a wide range of pain relief topics from simple exercises and physical activities like walking to techniques that have been around awhile, like cupping therapy. The book even mentions a few therapies that are newer that I have never heard of before and never would have if I had not read this book. My biggest take away by far though was the connection she makes with the amount of sleep one gets in their ability to manage pain as I’ve always been one to Ben the candle at night just a little too long. A close second section that is equally well written and an eye opener is the section on the importance of a healthy diet and gut health. If I could change one thing about this book is that I wish a few of the sections had a little more detail. But that aside, this is a great book and I learned a lot about managing my pain with my meds.

This is an excellent resource for those with chronic pain, as well as professionals and those who care for them. It covers in-depth a wide range of therapies that are proving to be very effective alternatives to conventional interventions, from meditation and diet to sound and red light therapy. We need to move beyond the belief that pharmaceuticals and surgery are the only answer, especially when so many of these options are addictive, harmful to the body, and all too often ineffective in the long term.

Alternative Pain Relief Methods” offers a solid introduction to holistic approaches for managing pain, making it especially useful for those unfamiliar with non-Western disciplines. The book covers a range of techniques in a clear and accessible way, providing a helpful foundation for readers looking to explore alternatives to conventional pain management. While it doesn’t go into great depth on any single method, it serves as a good starting point for those seeking a broader understanding of holistic healing. One area where the book could have been improved is the inclusion of images, particularly when describing exercises. Visual aids would have made it easier to follow certain techniques and ensure proper execution. That said, the explanations are still clear enough to be useful, and the book remains a valuable resource for anyone interested in exploring natural pain relief methods without overwhelming detail.
