I love these mats and helps with any tight muscles, back ache or general stress and tightness in your body. Takes a while to get used to but once you do you wonât look back.If find it best with a bare back, donât get the full effect with a top on. The first few minutes itâs does hurt but once you get past that, you will feel warmth then relaxation will kick in. I have fell asleep on it itâs that nice. The worst bit is once you come off it as find that hurts more then the actual mat itself. Use for half an hour before bed and you will get the most relaxing good nights sleep ever. Can not recommend enough

I use this before bed for 10 mins and it helps to relieve muscle tension, especially when they are twitching. I find itâs best for my upper back. The pillow doesnât do much, but definitely good for my back

Acupressure involves putting pressure, by various means, onto certain points of the body – acupoints – to stimulate natural healing by clearing blockages in the “meridians” that supposedly run through the body in the form of life energy. It has been particularly popular in India, and the pressure points are similar to those used in Chinese acupuncture. This mat is not the full length of a yoga mat. It is advised to place your head on the pillow and then lie on the mat. I also tried standing on it.My reservation is, that the mat will be spiking the body indiscriminately as opposed to the targeted pressure of a professional. It is claimed that they are “strategically placed” but doesn’t that depend on the position you lie in?You can see from the photograph of my foot – the spikes are just that. It borders on the painful. I stuck two minutes with my feet – and that was with socks on.With a thin t shirt I managed about 8 minutes lying on the mat, but I can say a persistent headache was improved, which was certainly completely unexpected. It is claimed to result in the release of endorphins, which I would love to see clinically tested. It is vital not to shuffle around on the mat. You will feel like a fakir on a bed of nails. However, there is definitely a calming benefit, maybe just because you are lying quietly trying not to move, but I will persist and build up the time as advised.I find the most painful foot massages (Hong Kong!) are the most beneficial, and I think the strange pain of this may have an ultimate benefit. But it won’t be for everyone.

This mat and pillow come wrapped together in a bag, slightly bulkier than I expected itâs around the size of a sleeping bag.At first look I was really surprised how sharp and spiky it was. Iâve had both acupuncture and acupressure and acupressure has been with fingertips so much more diffused than these spikes. Iâm not convinced they need to be so sharp with concentrated pressure.I do a lot of trigger point massage and having chronic pain my pain threshold is fairly high but I found the pillow part too uncomfortable to use on my neck. It is great for using under your calves or bottom of your feet when laying on the main pad though.I found it quite awkward and uncomfortable to get positioned on the pad as if you sit or put your weight on one particular area of your body the spikes dig in very painfully. I wore a T-shirt when using this and I think it would have been to intense without.I did feel a general relaxation after using but a fair amount of that was likely due to the fact you are laying relaxing and employing mindfulness techniques when focusing on the sensations generated (some a bit painful!)Honestly I donât know whether I will stick to using this. I will try a few more times but it might end up being one of those things I canât be bothered to unpack and use regularly.
