Rugged in scent and performance
The Rugged pomade smells incredible and the scent is as long lasting as the hair styling. Not as high shine as I expected, which for me is a good thing! Quality product ingredients! Only downside is cap was broken when I received the product.Overall, I recommend this product! Rugged smells like a cinnamon/pumpkin candle.

No longer on the Johnny slicks train
I originally was fully on board with Johnny slicks, i used the shampoo, conditioner, and all the styling products for months and thought all was well until i went to a salon for a haircut and the barber informed me of extreme buildup of product in my scalp and hair. The water based pomade isn’t water based at all, as water based means water is the base ingredient and water isn’t even on the label, and it isn’t water soluble at all, every one of their products cause buildup which actually leads to more hair loss as the wax stops new hair from growing properly on the scalp from clogging the pores. The shampoo and conditioner doesn’t properly clean the hair and scalp at all which exasperates the issue of the product building up while you use the styling products. It was a horrible, humiliating, and scary experience of how much buildup the products caused, i spent thousands on Johnny slicks and i felt almost betrayed and wish i could get my money back. The whole organic thing is over hyped and just a marketing strategy to charge more for products and get people to spend money, hair loss is caused from hormones, stress, and genetics, there’s no scientific evidence that hair styling products cause hair loss. I actually lost way more hair while using johnny slicks than i ever have before, and thought something might be wrong with me, but no it was absolutely the products. After my experience at the hair salon, I’ll never use Johnny slicks again, and would never advise anybody to use them.

Great product, strong hold.
Just what I was looking for. My hair is kind of wavy, so I typically need something with a decent hold. Their oil based pomade (omega) is my go to, and happens to hold my hair how I like it most of the time. But come summer, the heat really weakens the hold, and I had little curls hanging everywhere. Some guys can pull that semi-disheveled look off, I prefer the neat professional look.Iâd opt for the clay when the weather got hot, but it was on the pricy side and I couldnât justify the price. Thatâs where the water based pomade came in. Great strong hold, without damaging my hair, making it dry, or leaving residue. Best part, it holds all day no issue. It says itâs a high shine product, but Iâd argue itâs a moderate shine without looking greasy, just the way I like it. Somewhere in between the clay and oil.Keep in mind that the product does build up a little over time, so youâll need to wash your hair thoroughly. Not an issue since it means youâll need less product overall, and itâs water based so washing it out isnât too bad.Hope Nick and Johnny donât change this formula too much, they hit a home run with it.

Nice product, bad smell, slow shipping
Overall, it works well for styling hair. Ingredients are mostly “clean” save for their “fragrance,” which like a lot of a products, remains a trade secret. They go out of their way to say that it’s body safe, which is more than most companies will do. That said, the smell of this product is a little strong for my taste. Hopefully I get used to it.I’d also add that this product took weeks to receive after I ordered it. No clue why it should take so long to arrive.

This product may be a little pricy. But dang! It smells amazing. Great shine and hold. First time I used it, definitely used too much. I had to wash my hair out with shampoo 3 times to get it all out. (My fault) but second time used very little and did me great. Did I mention it smells absolutely amazing ???
