Does everything I need
The Braun Series 5 is the same as the Series 6 but with an easy-clean head instead of a tilting head. It’s inexpensive, light weight, comfortable in your hand, relatively quiet and shaves as close as any electric. Seven shaves dropped the battery by a third, which is pretty good. It charges in about an hour, and like all wet-or-dry rechargeables, you can’t shave while charging. For trimming, you take the shaving head off and snap the trimming head on. That’s a lot of bother for trimming your sideburns, but quite handy if you have a beard.Note that the shaver has two modes, Locked and Unlocked. To switch modes, press the power button for 3 seconds. The shaver arrives in Locked mode, so hold the button down 3 seconds to unlock it and turn it on. After that, a quick tap on the power button will turn it on or off. When you’re packing for a trip hold the button down for 3 seconds again and the shaver will go back into Locked mode and won’t accidentally turn on. This is a very useful feature, but it baffled me for over an hour!

Closest Electric Shave
This has been the closest shaving electric razor that I have owned. It is also quiet and an ideal grip size. The trimmer is a minor inconvenience to switch from shaver to trimmer; but, once in place it is in a better position for control than some of the competing pop up trimmers.

AN EXCELLENT SHAVER WITH ONE MAJOR DESIGN FLAW
I’ve gone through a number of shavers over the course of my life and this is probably the best – with one major design flaw that I’ll get to later and which keeps me from giving iit 5 stars. It provides a fast, smooth shave; it’s quiet; it charges up quickly and the charge lasts a long time. It even seems to produce less beard dust in any given shave and cleans easily. Just one problem: it lacks a pop-up trimmer – something that every other shaver I’ve ever owned has had. You have to take the basic assembly off as you would to clean it and replace it with a separate trimming assembly which is included. I don’t know about you guys but I like to go back and forth between shaving and trimming. I first start by trimming my sideburns and then I do the basic shaving. Inevitably I’ll find some long hairs that escaped my attention the previous few days and which need the trimmer. And I either have to switch assemblies or use the trimmer from my old shaver – only a slightly less awkward approach. Again, it is otherwise an excellent shaver in every other way but this aspect is a pain.

Impressed. Why pay more?
Context: I havenât used a Norelco in 20 years, and Iâve never used a foil shaver before. But Iâve had to stop using blades as much as possible because of acne within 24 hours of shaving. No matter the razor/foam/gel/soap/water/nothing/prep. Intentional-looking âDon Johnsonâ is surprisingly time-consuming to achieve & maintain. So I finally decided to try an electric shaver again.Using the shaver: Iâve only used this once so far â normally Iâd wait longer to write a review, but why? Closeness is pretty amazing â about 12 hours closer than the last time I used a Norelco. Completely comfortable 1st time. As for handling, I donât know why anyone would need the Series 6 pivot or the series 7 swivel to steer this head over their face. Handle is a nice shape and size. Sound is a little plasticy, but not loud or annoying. Being able to rinse the head under the faucet (and wash with soap as needed!) is a revelation â Iâm glad I didnât pay extra for the bulky cleaning station.If youâre having trouble because âit wonât cutâ: My old Norelco would mow a short beard. This shaver wonât. If your beard has gotten to ~1/8â long then this shaver WILL NOT cut it. At All. You will need to use the trimmer head or clippers to mow your beard to no longer than 1/16â (possibly shorter) before this tool will work on it. Any hairs you missed with the clippers/trimmer you will have to go back and cut with one of those tools before this shaver will finish the job. I think thatâs the compromise you accept for the close shave this will give.The manual: I get the complaints, but there are, in fact, words that tell you what each set of pictures is explaining. The typeface for these descriptions is oddly tiny for the amount of space they take up in the layout, so theyâre easy to overlook. The pictures themselves are detailed, but in a way that requires close attention. I think this was âwrittenâ for people who grew up with graphic novels â the styles are very similar. For those of us with grey hair itâs not what weâre used to, but the information is thereâ¦Where itâs made: as of this review, the shaver & trimmer are made in Germany, while the charger, cleaning brush & snap-on head cover are made in China.Buying advice: The ânewâ series 7 has a swivel between the head and body, the ânewâ Series 6 has a pivot, the ânewâ Series 5 has a rigid connection. There are styling differences. Otherwise the specs and features of the shavers are identical.As other reviewers confirm, the ânewâ Series 7 head (73s) and the ânewâ Series 5/6 head (53b) are interchangeable. Visually they are identical except that the 53b bezel is black and the 73s bezel is silver. When I replace the head Iâll try a 73s to see if thereâs any cutting difference. Iâll bet there isnât.

Average shaver, okay for it’s price, but not my favorite shaver. I’ve used Braun shaver my entire life. The product’s average, not great, not bad. My main dislike is that it doesn’t provide the cleanest shave. I will personally pay more for the 7 series which works fantastic and comes with a cleaning station too. Also dont like that it has a separate head for precision trimmer. Prefer the ones with precision trimmer built in. Just don’t find the switching of heads convenient.

Leider bin ich drauf reingefallen, man hätte drauf kommen können.Das Gerät ist für den US Markt gedacht, hat also einen US Netz Stecker.Darauf wird aber im Angebot leider nicht hingewiesen.Ich habe erst später gesehen das im Preisfenster als Vertieb Amazone US steht,desweiteren hat das Gerät einen zusatz Modus (Turbo) der im Deutschen Marktscheinbar gar nicht Angeboten wird. In den erweiterten Beschreibungen wird auf evtl.andere Garantie Bedingungen hingewiesen, unter Umständen hätte man die in Amerika geltend machen müssen. Und die lange Lieferzeit hätte einen auch stutzig machen müssen.Und die Bewertungen waren alle in Englisch.Da das Gerät eine Universalpannung von 100 bis 240 Volt verträgt, kann man natürlich ein “Deutsches” Netzteil nach Ordern und die Grantie Ignorieren. Trotzdem wäre ein eindeutiger Hinweis hilfreich gewesen.Habe das Ding zurückgeschickt, da das nach Amazone Las Vegas geht, ist das Porto auch heftig:19,99 mit DHL ohne Versicherung. Auch diesen Klima FuÃabdruck hatte man sich Sparen können. SchadeHabe mir ein Europäisches nachbestellt, alles Top!
