This stuff WORKS
My 3.5 year old was a chronic thumb sucker. Literally every time we read a book, watched a show, snuggled together, or she was just bored, the thumb would go right in. We painted this on her thumb literally ONE time almost a week ago. She made the mistake of putting the thumb in her mouth only three times that same day. She hasnât even tried to suck since then, and we havenât had to paint it on any other times. Iâm sure it must taste awful, which I do feel bad about, but it worked! Obviously we also reinforced the good behavior with lots of praise and some rewards, and weâre still working up to a big reward if she can go a whole month without sucking, but the first step was made much easier and quicker with this product. Would recommend it to anyone.

Effective in Helping Adults to Quit Bitting your Nails
I have been biting my nails for nearly 45 years. I started using this product about 2 months ago and have not bitten my nails since. It definitely works to change your bad behavior. I highly recommend this product.I just need to figure out how to cut my nails nowâ¦.

Effective, but Can Be a Bit Strong
The Mavala Stop Deterrent Nail Polish Treatment works well in helping curb nail-biting. Itâs effective and does exactly what itâs supposed toâdiscourages the habit. The taste is definitely unpleasant, which is the point, but it can be a bit too strong for some people.Itâs been helpful in breaking the habit, though, so overall, Iâm happy with the results. Just be prepared for the taste if you accidentally get some on your tongue!

This product helped me get my 3.5yo daughter to stop sucking her thumb, but I donât think that the polish alone will help a child quit the habit. I believe it needs to be an encouraging experience for the kid. Thumb sucking is a way for a child to comfort oneself, so I knew I had to teach her that there are other ways to self sooth. My daughter was already getting better at not sucking her thumb during the day, but would need it to get to bed. We had 4-5 nights of little to no sleep, but I continued to encourage her that she didnât need her thumb and offered her other alternatives to comfort her and reminded her that she was doing a good job not sucking her thumb. I tried to make it fun by painting her nails with regular polish and then applying the Mavala as a clear coat. I didnât need much, basically just a dab on the center of each nail (and I only had to reapply it once). I also put the prettiest color polish on the thumbs and I painted my nails like hers so that we matched. I started to notice her choose not to suck her thumb even after the Mavala had worn out. For about another week or so, we continued to play with nail polish, but without the Mavala. Of note, I was concerned from some of the reviews of kids having allergic reactions, so I tested it on myself first and then my daughter, but only a very small amount before continuing.

Purchased to stop thumb sucking and finger skin bitting for two separate children. At first (few hours) stopped thumb sucking but then did nothing with more applications.Helped finger skin bitting but would get in childâs mouth when eating etc. child hated the taste and said it helped. Wish our issue was just at night.
