It works well.
I am a longtime user of Braun electric razors at home but for travel have always packed a razor and shaving cream. When planning for a new trip I investigated whether there was a “travel” version of a Braun razor and found this one. First impression is quite positive. It’s compact and delivers a shave that’s as good as the home version of the Braun that I use (Series 7). It does have some peculiarities that I’ll have to get used to. It’s small, not quite as easy to hold in my hand, and the sideburn/whisker trimmer is small and a bit awkward to use. But overall I think this will do well for travel. My only complaint about it is that it arrived with two AA batteries which I installed and which soon thereafter showed themselves to be dead. The razor then acted as though it had failed on me and then it dawned on me that the batteries sent were depleted; once I had new batteries in it the M90 was back on track. Update: after using this for a two week trial period I took it on a 5-day road trip and it stood up well. I will concede that after all this was over I was happy to get back to my Braun Series 7 home razor. But on a fresh set of batteries it ran throughout the two week test and the 5-day road trip and reliably provided a close, comfortable shave.

Great Little Shaver
Amazon says I have bought this shaver several times now. That is over many of years, but that’s still embarrassing. I should be more careful, but it is my regular shaver, my travel shaver, and the shaver I carry in my “purse”. The problem is that when using it on-the-fly I drop it. Or, most recently, I lost it. (I think I set in on top of my suitcase at the airport and when the taxi pulled up I forgot it was there, rolled away with my bag, and it fell to the curb without my noticing. Not sure, but that’s my best guess.)Pros:- It works well.- Small.- Uses 2 AA cells, which are replaceable, so the whole shaver does not need to be replaced if the battery won’t hold a charge. And if the batteries are dead, swapping in good ones is faster than waiting for a charge.- Has a trimmer.- Has a real off switch, no phantom drain of the battery when it is supposed to be off.- Won’t switch on accidentally if it gets squeezed in your bag.- Foil is covered to protect it, and the cover stays attached so you won’t lose it.- Fairly tough for normal use, but don’t drop in the street while walking down the sidewalk shaving. (Yes, that’s me.)- Decent price.Cons:- There is a cleaning brush that has a parking place but isn’t that secure, it can get lost; but I never use it, I blow out the chaff myself and that seems good enough.- A bigger/better trimmer might be nice, but too big and it no longer works as a trimmer, so this is probably a stupid quibble.- Does not come with rechargeable battery nor a charger. But rechargeable AAs are available, and if you already have a charger (I do) that avoids yet another wall-wart power supply to keep track of.- A bigger, more powerful shaver might clear my face faster, but this one works well and small is a feature.I use quality rechargeable NiMH cells, and I charge them in a better charger than what might be built into a shaver. The result is they charge individually and never get overcharged, so I don’t ever *need* to replace them, because they keep holding a charge. The swinging thing that covers the shaving foil might seem silly, but it isn’t. It covers the foil, protecting it and it locks the switch from accidentally turning on. I could imagine a design that might be smaller, but the current size fits my hand pretty well, and the cover not being a loose item to misplace is a good thing. If I were traveling really light, and on a long trip, carrying spare AAs or carrying a charger might be too much. So that’s a consideration. I suppose I could buy disposables along the way, but I hate disposables.Good shaver, I keep buying them, not because they fail but because I keep losing them, or destroying them through abuse.Recommended.-kb

Great For Travel
I purchased this travel shaver because I have a Braun Series 7 for home use and I like it. I needed something lighter and smaller for travel and this one seemed to fit the bill. I like the idea of using “AA” batteries instead of having to lug around (and potentially lose) yet another power cord. This is not a shaver for everyday use, but for a back-up unit or a one or two week trip it did a great job plus it fits in my travel kit nicely. Kinda loud, but it works well enough that you only have to have it on for a few minutes. I like Braun products in general, and the price of this shaver is fair, assuming it works for a few years as a travel shaver.Bottom line: recommendedSeptember 2011 UPDATE:I’ve had this shaver for about a year and a half now and I still think it is a great value. I have taken it all over the world a couple of times now and the motor is still working strong. The only problem is the foil. After about 25 hours of use it wore out. I couldn’t use my Braun on my last trip due to the foil wear. I was relegated to a razor and cream for a week…yikes, razor burn made me miss my Braun shaver oh so much. I bought another foil for $11 with free shipping on Amazon so I am all ready for my next trip. Still a fine travel shaver, just keep an eye on the foil and replace it immediately upon signs of wear.April 2014 UPDATE:This little monster keeps on going and going. Motor is still as strong as when I bought it and regular maintenance keeps it if fine working condition. I am upgrading my review to HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDFebruary 2015 UPDATE:Another 8 trips since my last review, a battery refresh, and this razor just keeps on going! Couldn’t be happier.May 2017 Update:Countless trips around the world now with this mighty little razor and not a single problem. I installed a new screen and batteries when needed (not very often) and it just keeps on going.November 2023 Update:This little travel shaver has survived longer than my career. I retired two years ago and this little guy is still going strong. I use it for leisure vacation trips now to stay civilized.

So, I am female, and the ladies face shavers, especially the travel ones, for the most part shave soft hair, not “whiskers”, the more firm, thick, wiry ones. This little shaver took off a 1 day stubble, though I had to go over a few times in the under chin area. The screen is quite fine, and the shave is close enough. I am one of those unlucky women who actually has had a dark hair beard since 18, not as much as a guy maybe, but thick wiry black hair, mostly taken care of with laser til I ran out of money (and home laser ineffective on grey hair). I shave everyday with disposable (Gillete Sensitive ) which works excellent, and apply makeup. This little shaver got me close enough for make up, for all you guys/gals who also do so. I bought it for those days when skin is irritated, or can’t get to a sink to shave. Too much info? Well, just so you know you are not alone lol. As I am sitting here, skin is a little sensitive, but no redness or irritation, no skin damage, no nothing. Very easy to put in batteries (2AA), comes with a little attached trimmer I have no use for, and a little brush that also stores on the bottom. Blade easy to pull apart and clean, had a good weight to it, visible parts all plastic (except blade and cover screen). This is a decent little machine for the price and for battery operation. I like it!
